OBJECTIVES

The primary goal of GLOBAL CULTURE is to provide students with multicultural and multimedia activities that reinforce the practice of foreign languages and cultures. This section offers ten (10) mini-videos with the option to watch, listen to, read, and enjoy them in three languages: Spanish, French, and English. The topics covered present indigenous peoples from the five (5) continents of the world.

The format is the same for all videos in all three languages: a video with audio in the chosen language and the option to download the transcript. At the end of each video, a short comprehension exercise is proposed with the help of multiple-choice questions and corresponding answer verification. Language practice can be done autonomously, semi-autonomously, or in a face-to-face setting guided by a teacher.

The cultural content seeks to raise students’ awareness of the philosophy of life, traditions, and future of societies whose destinies have been shaped on uncertain horizons, facing the challenges of formerly colonized and currently marginalized populations.

Likewise, the videos display linguistic structures whose semantic and morphosyntactic complexity corresponds to the A2, A2+, B1, B2, and C1 proficiency levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Have a good trip!
